New Year, New Goals
Happy 2023! A new year with new goals for you and your business.
The new year is typically seen as the best chance to start afresh, be it joining the gym, trying out a new hobby or refocusing your business goals. The resolutions we make are often forgotten as fast as we make them. However, with the new year being an easy footmark, it is a good starting point to assess your business and the direction you want it to take. With a sense of fresh opportunities and a fresh mind, take advantage of this chance in order to finally achieve your vision. Here are some tips to make sure your resolutions stick this year, turning your business goals into reality.
First, assess your business’s strengths and weaknesses. Looking back at your previous years is a good starting point for this. It allows you to see what has been working and what has not. It can be good to pick apart previous years, however, don’t dwell on them. It is far more positive and productive to look forward, to your coming year. A few tips from the previous years are all you need.
Now, to achieve your goals, a plan is essential. A good quality business plan needs to contain internal & external goals and personal & team goals and it needs to reflect the overall aims of your business. This will almost certainly include an increase in new customers, current customer retention and higher sales turnover (all things Premium Sales can help you with). Your goals should be optimistic but achievable. It can be tempting to set over-ambitious goals, however, this can lead to disappointment and demotivation – you don’t want you or your team to burn out on the way to hitting them. In contrast, stretching but achievable goals can foster a dynamic team spirit and deliver great results.
Your goals need to be relevant. Your business is not the same as it was last year, or the year before. It will have grown and changed, with different staff members, new customers, internal process changes and more. Therefore, your goals need to adapt to accommodate and build on these changes. In order to grow, your goals need to grow too.
Finally, once you have created relevant and achievable goals, make sure you set time frames as checkpoints throughout the year. This is a chance to see if your approach is working and to get back on track if you have strayed from the goals you set out.
There is no point in making goals if they are not going to be actioned and achieved. The year is yours, a fresh start, and what is most important is to enjoy achieving your goals.
